Full Version: New 12" Buffy Dolls coming in 2004
SMGfan Message Board > The Buffyverse > General Discussion
Watcher
Sideshow Toys, the company that produced the one and only 12" Buffy doll a few years ago, has announced they will be continuing the Buffy doll line in 2004.

Coming first, in early 2004, are Buffy and Angel. Buffy will have the clothing from "Graduation Day" (sort of) and will come with stakes, a battle axe, and the "Hunga Munga" from "Anne". Angel/Angelus will have the clothes and sword from "Becoming".

And in the second quarter, Sideshow will be releasing Spike and Faith dolls, but there is no information yet as to what episodes they will represent.

Below is the link to Sideshow Toys, but please note:
The dolls pictured on the site are PROTOTYPES -- the actual clothes and head sculpts could change prior to production.

Wow the Angel one is an amazing likeness. The Buffy one looks a little stoned but I love the jacket laugh.gif

I hope they do red shirt Spike and Faith with the red tank top from EOD's, that would be awesome
BuffDaGal
yeah a Faith one would be so cool! Thanks for that! smile.gif

Yes, the clothing is removable, except for maybe Buffy's shoes. biggrin.gif I have their first Buffy doll and her shoes were molded on. Can't tell yet about this new one, but it looks like they are molded and Faith's probably will be too.

Still, with the clothes being interchangable, you could put Faith into an outfit similar to EOD if she doesn't come with one already. wink.gif

Cost of the dolls will probably be $40-45 (U.S.) each from Sideshow. Maybe as low as $35 from a dealer.

Prettyful
i am so getting them !!!!!!!!!!!! biggrin.gif yay! tongue.gif

they look really good, but buffy's eyes look strange unsure.gif

Here's some new info about the release of these dolls:

-- The first release, Buffy & Angel, is scheduled for Feb/March
-- Retail price from the manufacturer is $40 (U.S.) each
-- They are available for pre-order now from Sideshow and other on-line dealers

And here is some info that was posted on another board by a Sales Rep from Sideshow regarding the Buffy doll body:

QUOTE
The new body will have all the articulation of the original female body, but is more feminine than the previous body was. The first body looked like a teenage girl, this body is more suited to a Bond girl. It should pose well and have more stability than the old body. The one big change is in the neck - in the new body, the head is mounted at the top of the neck (sort of a ball joint movement for the head only) - this means there is no ugly articulation break where the neck meets the chest (like our current body has).

Also, here are some new pictures of the dolls (again these are PROTOTYPES, and the doll that goes into production may be somewhat different).

So what's the projected release date for the BOT ?
FuzzyLogic
the angel one looks a little more real but they are both cool
Chelle
They look pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the first batch though... the one with Buffy and the gentlemen from Hush. I REALLY didn't like those.

I think I like this Buffy a little better than the first one -- she has less eye makeup and a more of a neutral expression. The first one always looked sad to me. tongue.gif Would like to see the back of her head to see what they've done with her hair, though. The clothes definitely look better on this one. smile.gif

I thought they did a good job capturing DB's likeness, but I'm not crazy about the forehead scowl. I would have preferred more Angel and less Angelus -- but it's all good.

Will be interesting to see what Faith and Spike look like.

Elizas_Biatch
Shame the Spike ones won`t be out before 5th November sad.gif

..I have nothing to burn on my bonfire this year.
