i was watching that movie contact last night with jodie foster and at the part when shes in the pod about to take off, the main guy asks her if the video is ready, she replies, "the video is 5 by 5", and the guy says it when she gets back "5 by 5 on the video" this movie was released in theaters in 1997 (before faith was close to being in the show), so maybe 5 by 5 does have a meaning cause you know how its just one of those things no one actually knows the direct definition of. did btvs take it from contact you think?

5 by 5 is actually an army term. Might be for the pilots. It does have real meaning. It's like saying A-OK.

Nika is close... 5x5 is a military term (any branch) but not used just by pilots. Its a term used for communications; walkie talkies, over radios, ect
it means that you can hear the person "loud and clear" first 5=loud, second 5=clear
Why are they 5's instead of any other numbers you may ask? On the scale of frequency, a 1 is low and inaudible, a 10 is very loud and inaudible from having too much frequency. A 5 is between and perfect in being able to hear and undertstand what is being said-
Hope that helps "Here endth the lesson"
