I loved the torture scene & the all-too-quickly-killed evil vamp, but Angel's reasoning for destroying the ring was a little shallow to me. Especially now, in hindsight, you can literally count the hundreads of times it would have helped save a life or made evil fighting easier throughout the show. Angel is supposed to have stellar strength of character and fortitude, so it seems silly that he would be incapable of focusing on helping the helpless just because he could go out in the day, especially considering how much more effective invulnerability would have been for him.
Of course, I understand it was done for dramatic reasons...
