How sad - maybe he just threw it out because he knew it would eventually be stolen and end up on Ebay anyway.

A message from his manager concerning the 2004 Spacey Award for sale on eBay. Many fans have written to let us know that an award given to James is being auctioned on E-Bay. James and his business associates are very upset to learn that a valued and much appreciated award was taken from his personal trailer without his knowledge and is now being offered on E-Bay. Please do not help support people who are profiting from unscrupulous acts. Thank you. - Steve Himber

From Space Channel’s Hypaspace Weekly August 22nd Edition - 2004-08-25th
According to the August 22nd edition of HypaSpace Weekly on the Space Channel, he is being sent a replacement award.
The award, which he won in 2004 for Fave Male TV Character: Spike, was taken from his personal trailer.
Hmmm.

Throwing away a 10 lb award into a trash bin (which, going by the seller's logic, hasn't been emptied since the day he would have thrown it away. That's hard to believe.) on the set of the show they work on is bizaar as heck. Especially where there are people that would see that big old honkin' thing being tossed into the trash by an actor under constant demand (plus he knows that guy follows him around, commenting on if he is going "1s or 2s", like he said). Very unprofessional, it would be. Had he not liked it, he could have thrown it away at home.
Plus he got it while filming so chances are, it was carted off like they often do with musicians who need to perform and then later presumed to be taken to his trailor. Far as we know, he hasn't commented on it being missing or stolen, but then it's not liked he'd come on the internet and talk about it. Plus, he never recieved his 2003 SFX Award so there is a difference between not having it for whatever reason eventhough you won the honor vs. it showing up on Ebay.
The seller took it down, of course, without expounding beyond "no, really, I got it in the trash" and how he wouldn't contact Marsters' management (in an attempt to avoid confrontation, likely). He really shoudn't have taken it in the first place, though.
On the other hand, it's not as bad as selling MT's underware or whatever it was.
