David Boreanaz, is still in contention. Is he super? "Maybe," according to Christopher, "He hasn’t really acted in anything of note other than as Angel, so we haven’t seen a lot of range out of him. We know he’s good at playing a tough guy with a sensitive core, but that’s more in the Batman line. His atrocious Irish accent was a liability for Angel, but shouldn’t have any effect on his potential as Superman."

Full Version: Boreanaz for Superman
I dont know. I can never picture anyone in anything. Like Tobey in Spiderman I remember when the news of this moving being made came out and they were contending between a few actors. When Tobey was chosen I remember thinking "What?? No way." Then I saw the movie and thought he was perfect.
David is cute and if he does get chosen I'm sure he'll do a great job but I think Tom Welling has more of the edge because he plays young superman in SMALLVILLE.

I think this will be great for David to take this role because it can open so many other opportunity's for him. I mean come on Crow 4 did not even hit theaters niether did I'm with Lucy. I hope he does well with Mr. Fixit and that it will make it to the theaters. But I would really like to see him playing Batman that role is so good for him because he could really play a dark character.
I can't picture David as Superman.

Neither can I...Batman would be more up his alley.
I just think they're going to go for someone young, and more in the "up and coming" category. Not that my opinion counts as far as casting of this movie is concerned...lol.
This is viewed as a franchise movie though. If it's successful, then they'll be wanting to make another one in another couple of years. I'm not saying David is old...but if they wanted to make 2 or 3 films...he might be viewed as such by Warner Bros.

I don't think so...as far as this issue is concerned anyway...
I mean, a big reason for him not getting the Spiderman gig is that he was regarded as being a bit too good looking / cute...while Peter Parker is supposed to have this nerdy side to him. That wouldn't be a problem with this role. And I think he'd be great at bringing forward that slightly goofy quality which anyone playing Clark Kent kind of needs to have.
Apparently the project is without a director yet again. So as far as casting the role, they're pretty much right back at the start. Whichever director they bring in is going to have their own ideas. A bunch of people did screentests, and presumably the people that the studio liked will be brought to the attention of whatever director is next assigned to the project. But I'm not sure whether Freddie was under consideration, or wanted to be under consideration or what.

As much as I love Jake...he's way too shrimpy/nerdy (but in a cute way) for Superman and his features aren't dark enough. Casting him would be a really big mistake. I personally would have rather Jake play Spiderman...than Tobey. Tobey is good as spidey but I think Jake could have possibly been just as good if not better. I also really really really don't like Kirsten as Mary-Jane.
Superman for Freddie? I can see it actually. He reminds me more of Dean Cain from the tv show certainly more than Christopher Reeve. His personality seems like it would do well with the Clark/Superman duality.

I like the Spiderman/Freddie Idea I think its suites him more
An interview i read w/ Freddie regarding spiderman he didnt get because they said he was too cute(which he is anyways) and his idea of spiderman didnt mesh well w/ Raimi's idea of the view. i think Tobey did a great job as Peter Parker because he does have that nerdy side, but i wasnt quite sure if he could do Spiderman.

I wouldnt mind Jason Behr(because i think he would do a great job) or Tom Welling(who definitely has the look of Clark Kent). the things is the WB who is producing the movie isnt gonna to wait until Smallville's over to make the movie, so they will probably bypass the stories in Smallville which has angered many fans.

Well for those who have a problem picturing David as Superman, a friend made this for me and it might help. And yes the S is backwards but it helped to match up the angel of the lighting on his face with the body.
