great episode. drew goddard is the man

next week looks great too.. yeay dru!

Very good episode.

I absolutely loved the Buffybot reference.

Spike didn't seem annoying this time. The whole screaming out when it got dark thing was flippin' hilarious.

Nice to see a Wesley-centric episode. Wesley and Fred YAY! Frox...NAY!
mlkj13
Poor Wes...thinking he killed his father, realizing he didn't really and then trying to connect with his real dad again but gets shot down. sad.gif And even though I have no interest in a Wes/Fred pairing, I felt bad for him during their end scene.

Also liked that they mentioned Lilah in some way

pretty enjoyable episode
Vixen
Alexis was great in this episode. smile.gif Lots of emotion. But I think it would have been more powerful if it was actually his dad and not a robot.
And eh@Knox. Interrupting a good Wes/Fred scene. dry.gif

I loved Spike's little quips and him punching that robot dude in the face. smile.gif Plus, leaving Eve in an elevator was great, as was the BuffyBot mention. tongue.gif

And next week's preview! wub.gif
Spike, Angelus, and Drusilla!!! *can't wait*

Heh, that was pretty funny. Plus, the Spikes mom trying to shag him....and Wesleys reaction laugh.gif

I thought it was a real good episode. I'm wondering what those cyborg type things hold in the future. Are they good.....bad..or maybe neither.

And Wesley had his kick a$$ personality back a biit...even though he also had a bit of a depressing thing going on. And Wesley and Fred. That was nice to see.

It seems like we're finally starting to get somewhere with a season story arc maybe. Spike's conversation with Eve about whether or not the amulet was meant for Spike...and why he's a ghost. The whole thing with the cyborgs and if they're good or bad...or if they hold a place in the big picture. Plus some reference to the whole Connor thing and everyone losing their memories.

Next week looks great. Spike versus Angel and DRUSILLA!!!.

Loved the ep. Wes was awesome, loved the Lilah reference.
Fred was cute as always. Angel was cool. And what the hell is up with Angel and Eve? I really hope their sexcapades don't turn into something ... more. ph34r.gif Spike was hilarious - the Buffybot, his mother, goodness he had me rolling.

Next week looks amazing. *Remembers Chosen.* tongue.gif

Drew Goddard is amazing...I've been a fan since I first saw "Selfless". This was a good episode. I'm LOVING Fred this season...and Fred/Wes is great, I hate Knox!!

I loved all the references...BuffyBot, Lilah, etc.

David
I've concluded... that they should just hand over the entire series to Drew Goddard. This episode was fantastic. It's nice to see that Dark Wesley is still in there some where. And I was really rooting for Fred and Wesley at the end...stupid Knox...

Easily the best episode of the season
Kanes_Inferno
All I have to say is "Welcome back, oh how I've missed thee." This episode reminded me why I love Angel...and this season has been so rocky, it's been hit or miss with most episodes (with almost no middle ground). But this episode may just have set the show in the right direction and next week's episode looks amazing!

A few thoughts...

The scene on the roof was amazing, I couldn't help but smile when Wesley started busting a cap in his "father" and then I couldn't help but feel bad for Wesley as he threw up over it...Then when he realized it wasn't him, the first thing I thought about was I wonder how Fred will feel. This scene changed my emotions so much, certainly was a ride. Then their moment in his office, oh why must they torture me!? I want them to be together and it seems no matter what Wesley does she'll never be with him.... sad.gif
I think when the camera focused on Spike, when Wesley's "father" was talking about him knowing so many languages, was a reference back to Shanshu. I think Spike will have Wesley read the prophecy too him..Just a theory..

Lorne is back to be annoying and not funny, his scenes are just plain dull...He really needs some better scenes...I mean I really don't see what they can actually do with him at this point but please figure something out!

I really liked that some old feelings got brought up, when Eve mentioned Wesley taking Conner. And at the end when Angel was telling him how he does what's best, not worrying about the costs...and how he didn't understand it before. In a way, was kind of Angel coming to terms with what Wesley did. Atleast that's the way I seen it...

Was it just me or did the previews so Angel and Eve kissing and yet that scene wasn't in the episode?? I was looking forward to that! I'm starting to digg the whole Eve/Angel angle, maybe they'll do something with that.

The previews remind me of Angel at it's best, I sure hope this episode doesn't dissapoint! This episode and next week's, could possibly get this season headed in the right direction.
Hidden Willow
Best episode this season. I love Wesley. Alexis did a fantastic job. Eve didn't bother me this time. Spike was hilarious. Fred is just... taking too damn long to notice Wes. And I hate Knox. I hope he dies a horrible flamey death for interrupting that moment. Or just ya know... leaves the show. Whatever works. Can't wait for next week. smile.gif
David
Kanes, I'm surprised you didn't comment on the Wes + guns + slow motion tongue.gif

that clip was from the previous episode...Life is a Party or whatever the name was. There wasn't supposed to be any A/E action in this episode.

Also doubt A/E will go anywhere, which imo would be a wonderful thing. I just don't like Eve. That whole Spike not caring that she was still stuck in the elevator...I was right there with him laugh.gif

Absolutely awesome episode. And heartbreaking too. Poor Wesley, his father is such an butthole. I was so surprised when Wesley just up and shot his father without even thinking twice. God was that ever frigging powerful. But then Fred just left him in the end? That HURT. I can't believe she would ever do that. That was probably one of the cruelest things she could have done. I don't think that action was scripted well at all.

Definitely agree with the Lorne thing, KI. His scenes were utterly useless and absolutely cringe inducing. Ugh.

Oh I loved it, I'll be having a new avatar soon, don't worry. wink.gif

But too be honest, I was so hyped while writing that, I forgot to mention that..lol.

Excellent episode! Perhaps, in my opinion, one of the best of the season (if not THE best). Caught the Buffybot reference and Spike is hilarious. The only things I didn't like so much were that Fred just LEFT Wesley at the end when Knox came by and Lorne in general. I'm sorry but he just seems kind of annoying nowadays.

I caught the Eve/Angel make out session in the previews and I didn't see it in this episode either. FALSE ADVERTISING! smile.gif
SlayerBabe654
I loved the Buffybot reference laugh.gif
It must've been bunnies
This was a great ep, poor Wesley he was about to tell Fred until Knox showed up(I really wanted to slug him for that). Interesting though(I'm trying to get this right) if there was no Conner, then Wesley didnt betray Angel, so there never was a riff between Wesley & the Fang Gang, so then why was Wesley w/ Lilah?..hmm...alternate dimensions or memories?

I was laughing(and have nice memories of BtVS) w/ the Buffbot reference, if Angel found out he would hate Spike more. Aww...the Lilah reference, gee, I miss her presence on the show. I'm glad Spike is not trustworthy of Eve, their keeping eyes on each other(in the lab scene I was wondering why she giving him looks). I was shocked when Wesley shot his father, and relieved for Wes it wasnt his father, but that was a cool twist(gotta love that Drew Goddard). Spike was cute in this ep trying to be noble and all, he actually looked concern when Gunn was in trouble, and I was all cheering when he punched the cyborg.

Btw, love the Harry Potter reference too. Calling Wes, Percy who happens to be head boy of the Gryiffdor(sp) house at Hogwarts. I really hope those cyborgs werent from the Watchers' Council, they really havent changed. Hopefully Buffy and her Scooby Gang can reconstruct that insitution too(that's what I see happening until some Sunnydalers come to L.A. tell me different). Angel and Buffy's right Dru is fickle!! but its grea to see Juilet Landeau again, and in the past.
monkey power
Oh yes. Oh god yes!

(Hey did you know that the new Legacy of Kain game hit the shelves today?)

This ep pleased me very much and the spirit of nitpicking has entirely left me.

Maybe tonight was a hint or portent of their new enemy for this year?

Hope so.

Lots of good points of departure were made. There once again seems to be something around the bend! The sense of storytelling is back! (The amulet was intended for Angel; no it wasn't; yes it was; Wesley dipped into darkness when he made the choice to kill his papi; no he didn't; YES HE DID, and Wolfram is one step closer to claiming him [time is on the devil's side]; Eve went to UC Santa Cruz where she learned how to shake it, and now she may be revealed to be an inhuman mover and shaker.)

Now bring on my favorite vampire!

this is the first ep that i really liked. i loved wes in this one. when fred got shot and he was all concerned for her. then angel yelled at him and told him that they were his people. i really wanted to smack angel for wes he already felt bad about her getting shot.

i still dont like eve sorry but i dont think i ever will i liked lilah better eve seems to me like a bad replacement for her.

the buffybot thing was funny and spike about his mom wanting to shag him.

that totally shocked me when his dad hit him and took that staff thing.

and when he took out the gun and shot his dad for fred i felt so bad for him. you knew he felt bad about it cause of his face alexis was great last night and when he puked afterwards because of it.then he found out it was a robot and not his dad but still felt bad cause he thought it was.

i agree lorne needs something to do besides talk on the phone in every ep or watch a baby like he did in season 3 or keep robots company.

i felt so bad for him when fred left with knox . i have always wanted fred and wes as a couple. that was mean when she left after she knew what he almost did for her .

it is nice that spike doesnt trust eve. she follows angel around like a puppy i wonder what her deal is.
one of the best of the season i think cause it was dramatic and funny in some places it mixed for the first time.

gunn was hardly in this one are they gonna have a gunn ep soon so we can find out whats up with him. i hope so.

next week with dru and spike and angel looks really good.

For me, great ep too. I've really liked it. Good scenes Wes/fred (grrrrr Knox, don't like him)

I thought last night's episode was really good. biggrin.gif

-Spike was hilarious as always. The whole screaming out when it got dark thing was freaking hilarious. laugh.gif

-I thought the conversation Spike and Eve had in the elevator was interesting. Hmm. Eve told Spike that maybe the amulet wasn't meant for him. wink.gif

-It was funny when that robot guy had his arms around Gunn's neck and Gunn called out Spike's name and Spike said "Hold on, let me concentrate". LMFAO. I thought that was funny. Then Spike punched him out. laugh.gif

-I loved Wesley's reaction to Spike telling him that he killed his mom and then tried to shag him. LMFAO. laugh.gif laugh.gif

I just noticed this, I hate when I post at the same exact time as people! I totally agree about the Wes and Fred thing. I mean comeon, he just killed what he believed was his father, FOR HER, and she's just gonna ditch him for some giggly professor? I don't believe it, that was very poorly done!

Oh I see KI is catching on somewhere besides Renew Angel. smile.gif

I agree that it was a cold decision on Fred's part to leave Wesley, but I'll differ on the poorly done description. The reaction it generated from us the viewers, and even more so, what it could mean for F/W in the future is very intriguing.

I personally think that maybe Fred was a little scared for what she was feeling. Maybe she does like Knox, but she just realized at that moment how she still cares for Wesley. I could tell that she had something that she really wanted to say. Maybe its foreshadowing to Knox being a bigger problem for the possibility of Fred/Wesley as a couple later in this season.

Thats my reaction too. "Cold" more accurately fits a deliberate intent. In Fred's case I think she was just overwhelmed.

Yeah it was easy to tell she was really frustrated. I think she had something to say to Wesley before Knox showed up. I can't wait for Wes and Fred to have some more alone time so I can hear what it was she had to say.

Drew Goddard is great with angst....and there had been a lack of it so far this season, it was nice to see some emotional pain!!

Definately. Amy Acker has a lot of talent...but I personally think that the writers don't allow her to show it enough. The look on her face at the end of "Lineage" had so much expression...so did her eyes. I saw some of it at the end of season four when they gave her a chance to shine...and now a lot this season. I'm really loving Fred the character lately.

A very good episode, fantastically written by Drew Goddard. He needs to write more scripts. Great twists, great comedy from Spike, great Buffy references, and well....just great!

I must agree with everyone- this was a fantastic episode. Especially after last week's horrible showing. This episode reminded me of why i was loving angel last season. I didn't know that Drew Goddard wrote the episode selfless- does anyone know any other episodes he wrote because his work is outstanding.

CWDP one of the coolest things about that ep was that all the writers were involved w/ it.
