I was just watching The Matrix for the millionth time..awesome movie.
Afterwards I started thinking about the fighting scenes on Buffy. Although there's more of a lack now..she only seems to slay one vampire an episode..most of it's more dramarized, but the bad guys are varied. Which is good, In my opinion. So the fighting scenes are pretty dam good, but do you think they could be any better? Do you think there should be more? I know there might not be a good budget for it, and a few broken bones wouldn't go a miss. But just imagine they had the ability to do it. So Buffy's fights with Glory was Maxtrix-style and the visual effects were pretty good for a television show. Buffy's punchs up with Spike were wicked back in the day to. But now..there a little out of date. It's more of a slap-up than anything else. One of my fave fighting scenes was in Becoming part 2. The Sword fight between Buffy and Angel was good TV!
Got any faveourite weapons Buffy's used in the past? What do you think about the other character's fighting skills? They've improved over the seasons, Xander is a lot stronger and Willow came to use with her magic. Giles always ended up getting knocked out and Riley fought like a girl.
Oh yeh, how could I forget? Fights between Buffy and Faith were probably some of the best!

I've only watched the first 5 seasons, but my guess would be Buffy became too stong for those usual vamps, so there's not much of a point in showing it... "two punches and a stake through the heart..." But even in S5 (apart from Glory) there weren't really many worthy opponents, which equals less "real" action, which brings the best out of our gal.

Yes, as a rule Slaying seems to be a pretty quick one on one action, of course when the sitch calls for it, "Into The Woods"
BUFFY: Walk away. (Vamp 2 moves closer) I'm serious. Don't do this. Not now.
Vamp 2 lunges at her and she shoves him. He flies backward into some large tubes. The other vamps attack.
Buffy backhands Vamp 3, kicks Vamp 4 in the face, spins around to punch Vamp 5. Then Vamp 4 attacks her with a long staff. She punches him in the face, takes the staff and uses it to stake Vamp 6 behind her. She hits Vamp 4 in the face with the staff, dusts Vamp 7, punches Vamp 8, and quickly dusts three more vamps with three quick jabs of the staff. She pauses and faces down Vamp 2. He runs at her, and as he flies over her head she stakes him. She turns and puts the staff to the throat of the last vamp, a woman, who stands still looking scared.

The fighting scenes are brilliant. We`ve heard about slip ups happening, but they are few and far between.
Best fights were undoubtably B/F in Grad Day and B/A in Becoming. Beautifully choreographed.

Charisma Carpenter broke her nose in 'Homecoming' (I think it was her nose) and the stunts ALWAYS break fingers. James Marsters burnt his hand in Lovers Walk (You know when the sun sets Spike's alight) And those are the best fighting scenes - Graduation and Becoming

I love the fighting scenes. Even in the few episodes which weren't great, the fighting makes it worthwhile.

The fighting scenes on BtVS have always been brilliant. Luckily everyone's safe when they do the fighting scenes.

I think that the fight scenes are wicked! But I have always thought this ... how can Xander fight the Vamps when he is just a human, aren't vamps supposed to be stronger?

Yeah, but it just shows anyone (Wesley, Cordelia, Xander) can kick vampiric arse with enough determination P.S In Beauty and the beasts, Linz, do you mean when Faith is dancing with headphones on then hits Buffy? Did Eliza REALLY hurt Sarah??

Sarah broke her hand, i think, in Homecoming. You can actually see the cast/bandage on her hand in one scene if you look hard enough. Not sure if she actually did that doing a stunt but anyhoo...

They usually pair actors with stunt doubles to avoid things like that. But apparently, they thought I was coordinated (laughs.) She came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder and I was supposed to whip around and just miss cold-clocking her. But one of us overstepped our mark (laughs) and I made contact. I was wearing these big silver rings and I just punched her right in the face. The funny thing is, nobody said "cut." So I'm looking down at Sarah and she's looking up at me with this incredulous look on her face and I didn't know whether to go on with the scene. I felt so guilty and was like "Ohmigod, I'm so sorry." She got me back a week later by tossing me down on the gravel." ~ Eliza Dushku, October Total Movie.

I like the fact that Buffy gets her butt kicked some of the time. I hate it when the good guy never gets hurt. It seems so fake.
