There's no evidence that Sarah was interested in a role in Batman Begins and no evidence that they were interested in her for a role in the film. Gossip sites seem to just list random celebrities who are in an appropriate age group when discussing who was up against who for any given role. These are the same people who mention every now and again that Katie Holmes turned down the role of Buffy when there is no way that happened.
A good example of this type of "rumour/gossip mongering" is the fact that seemingly every single actress in Hollywood under the age of 40-ish has been linked with
Wonder Woman at some point over the last six or twelve months, even though it has been categorically stated on numerous occasions that the casting process has not begun and no discussion about the casting of the lead role has taken place. Sarah was frequently linked with the role early on, even though she made it quite clear with her jokey
"Wonder Woman is, like, six feet tall!" comment that any thought of her pursing it was a ludicrous idea. We just seem to live in an age when there is an unquenchable thirst for rumour and gossip and it is much easier to keep on supplying this than wait for actual facts.
As
Leigh quite rightly says, there is no real evidence to suggest that Sarah was ever considered for the character played by Katie Holmes in 'Batman Begins' and I certainly don't think it ever came down to a choice between the two actresses. Personally, I am not all that convinced we will see Sarah in the next Batman film, but I guess time will tell.
