I went to a screening today and thought it was great. It wasnt scary or a real thriller, it was really a character study. A great slow character study. It;s about a girl who hurts herself. Through the entire thing she is holding a knife and she does use it. The sad thing to me is one of two things might happen. They might re edit the film to make it more commercial or they might advertise it as a horror so people are expecting something other than what it really is. If anyone has any questions I can answer them.

The only thing that sounds the same is the character cutting herself.

Quint from AICN reported about that a while back. Here's his report (Warning there are spoilers):

clerks20 :

I dought it will be a hit at the box office even though I really liked it. The only hint that its a studio film really is Sara Michelle gellar. She doesn't have much range in the film, but her character seems like she's suppose to be a one note person. I think she might have smoked in a few scenes but I dont remember drinking unless she did in one of the opening scenes at the red bar. Oh and it will be an R rated film. There are some grafic scenes with Sara stabbing her self. I hope I answered everyone's questions.

I'm kinda agreeing w/u about this one. Just from what we have been told and what u told us when u were on-set plut AICN's report, this sounds a little fake. MLKJ I agree w/u about the cutting thing though. Why hasnt anyone else mentioned this screening on-line? We know more than one person went! LOL! The movie is gonna be awsome end of story, lol, but I dunno about this review thing. It would be cool if it was real and stuff cause a test screening means that the movie is getting rolling. But the fact that this person didnt peticulally like it, kinda buggs me. I dkn, I think it will be amazing anyway! LOL! laugh.gif

Its just, what I was told it not all about a girl cutting or stabbing herself? Its about reicarnation gone bad in a way. She may cut herself in the movie but thats not what the movie is about.

I don't believe you were intentionaly misled, just not told everything. For the most part a screening provides the ptb a chance to see what works, what doesn't, what needs to be emphasized more, cut out, before the movie is released.

RJ...I don't think it's about a girl cutting herself either. When I did the extra stuff, the AD for the extras was saying to us in the balcony that during the dancing scenes Sarah's character was having hallucinations or flashing back to the past. And there will be a neat shot of her looking out into the club & not seeing the dancers. So yeah it's definitely more about reincarnation. smile.gif

BBC World just shown on "Talking Movies" a short piece about Asif Kapadia - the director of "untitled supernatural thriller". It is mostly about the director himself and his previous movie "Warrior". But it briefly discusses the last movie and mentions Sarah starring in it too.

Some quotes:

Asif Kapadia: "It's a jigsaw puzzle of a movie and for me it's [a] very exciting chance to work in a different genre. Also it's my first time directing something of substance that I haven't written. And also working within the American studio system. So it was an interesting challenge."

Tom Brook: "You were given a Most Promising Newcomer award. Do you think you've lived up to that title?"

Asif Kapadia: "Oh God, I don't know. I think I'll only find that out after I've made ten movies. I suppose the biggest challenge is there's so many young filmmakers who make one movie and then vanish. And that was one of my aims, was to not get stuck on that awkward second movie, and I've got over that, I've made my second movie, I'm finishing it up and it's coming together really, really well, and I'm very pleased, I'm proud of it. And so after I've made ten I'll hopefully be able to show that I was promising when I made that first one."

Ok i have read some of the posts around here and i think people should be careful or rethink what they know.

Rogue is clearly trying to become the next Lions Gate. I would expect a theatre count of 2500 theatres as Sarah will be the main focus in the marketing. I also believe you should not compare "Cry_Wolf", Rogue's latest film, as a precedent on what will happen to Sarah's movie. The reason why Rogue has waited on a date, is because it wants to go out on the safest weekend possible, where Revolver wont be up against other films that have supernatural elements etc.

I also believe that this maybe 'Rogue/Focus' most successful film to date at the box office.

I am also going with a few other rumors on the net, that it will open on ...............................
.........................................
..........................................

...........................................
...........................................
...........................................
...........................................
............................................
.................................February 10, 2006.

Because Focus/Rogue are Universal Picture entitys, the trailer may premiere with one of its movies. E.g. Doom. Its becoming more apparent now that studios are releasing trailers with their own movies.

Well I guess this is your take on it... I think I've already said this but as fun as speculating is, I don't think anyone can know what Rogue is going for...I mean it depends on so many factors...
As for the possible release date you gave, it indeed looks like a good date but for any movie considering that there are very few releases on that day so far... but I'm staying VERY skeptical smile.gif lol I'm one of those who just wait to see what's gonna happen tongue.gif

I dont really feel like looking throught all the posts but, i remember someone saying how Rogue(sp) films dont get alot of promotion, and i but Cry Wolf is done by the same and its on like every 5 min here lol (the commercial) And ive seen an ad in 2 magazines. So my point is maybe if they have more faith in the movie they promote it more? i dunno.

Pretty certain this film not be called Revolver now, not if their publicists get any feedback from the UK.

The Guy Ritchie version has caused major controversy by putting posters of the film showing the guns, in major sites around the country, including one close by where a girl was recently shot and killed.

In a country trying to fight rising gun culture, another film named Revolver would not go down well, regardless of its content.

(Controversey will probably increase Ritchie's films sales though_

The title "The Return" came from IMDB not a reliable source. I think we should wait for someone reliable to confirm this.
