Or she could just be LilSMG Hee, Teenage Horniness! AHAHA. Hey, who said she had to be a GOOD singer (although I think SMG is pretty good!) She's just your regular porn star...whatever that means. That's hysterical....webcast?

Here is another site that is part of Southland Tales: http://www.treer-products.com/Not much on there yet but another interesting installment to the guessing game that is ST. Number 5 said its the name of a company. Credit to Gunji over at Richard-Kelly.net for the find.

Richard & Kevin Smith at Comic Con (San Diego)QUOTE Just got out of the panels. Richard's presentation was very brief - they showed an animated clip that I guess was supposed to be done by Kevin Smith's character Simon Theery - that will be the next website I expect. Don't have time to look for it now. Casting is still going on and there will be surprises. Shooting still starts in four weeks. The "making of" documentary will be done by the people who made a mockumentary on the Die Hard director's cut DVD - haven't seen it. I got it all on tape, not very good quality but you can see and hear. Will try to get it on the board later. Technical advice welcomed - I've got a Sony DSC-M1 brand new that I'm not very familiar with yet. If someone's got a better tape I won't bother

Posted by houseofgvsb on Richard-Kelly.net: QUOTE Looks like I'm the first to chime in on this. I was able to record all of Kevin Smith's presentation as well as Richard's, save for what was shown. I suppose I could have recorded what was shown for ST but I didn't want to risk getting kicked out. Richard was quite nervous and repeated the line "I'm not good at this talking thing" over and over. He pretty had the last 10 minutes of Kevin's hour, and besides what was shown, not much else was revealed. Shooting starts in four weeks, casting is still in progress (no revelations regarding this, but he did mention that there would be some surprises). Only one person was able to ask him a question, and it was regarding the dvd release of ST. Richard said that the same team behind the DD mockumentary would be shooting what will probably end up as a two-hour documentary on the shooting of the movie, and that he's hoping to release a massive dvd set along with the graphic novels. Otherwise, he thanked Kevin profusely and mentioned how Kevin is able to avoid pretense in presenting hiimself and he hopes to live his life the same way.
Now...on to the clip.
Again, I apologize for not capturing this, I really should have tried to sneak it. I will preface this by saying that at first I almost thought it was a joke (well, it is funny, but going to be a part of the movie). This and this alone will mark as one of the defining indelible images the movie will leave on its audience, quite possibly (probably, most likely) one of many.
Okay. Trying to build some suspense here, but it's worth it.
What was shown at first was a sort of animated storyboard. We see a vehicle, Hummer looking, parked in a driveway on a residential street, with a car parked across the street as well. A close-up of the license plate reveals TREER. We hear the sounds of electricity and what appears to possibly be lightning, though whether this was from the sky or another source I'm unsure of. The vehicles are enveloped in this lightning, and we see a close-up of the tail-pipe twisting on the closest vehicle, and then a close-up of the tail-pipe on the vehicle across the street twisting and widening, opening up larger. I think there might have one or two other pieces changing that I forget. We see the tires on the first vehicle changing, changing...to reveal hands and feet. Then we see this vehicle across the street, insert its tail-pipe into the tail-pipe of the other car...and the first car mounts the other, doggy-style (sorry moderators, couldn't think of a euphemism). So, yeah. When ST is released, one of the many things we'll see is two cars having sex. After this, the website for Treer-products popped up, preceded by the "There is no alternative" line. Then there was a visualization for a SF-looking area, very quickly shown, of some sort of area, like a small section of city perhaps, or a factory, completely in silver, everything looking chrome. If anyone has seen the strange factory area off of the 405 in LA that resembles some of the cityscape in Blade Runner, it reminded me of that but all silver.
That was it. Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything; anyone who was present please fill in any gaps I may have left in my retelling of what was presented. I'm going to begin encoding the video right now for Richard's section, and if enough people would like to see, and if our volunteer to host the video is will to host it, I'll get Kevin Smith's section ready as well. So there you go. Walk outside if you're in a house, take a look at your car, take a look at the car across the street, and imagine them going at it.

Wow. Car sex? LMFAO. Jaysus. I'm so freaking excited for this movie, the more and more they show...the less and less they reveal! if that makes sense.

Okay, this is sounding like Cronenberg mixed with Orwell.
Talk about fetishizing the machine. Reminds me of the sick and hilarious SNL skit about sex with a car. "You love your car, don't you think it's time you show her how much?"
So we have sex become a purely mechanical and soulless thing, talk about apt metaphor.
It's ironic that we have Gellar playing a FORMER adult film star, a representative of an entertainment industry that promotes mechanical and emotionless sex, who may be the prophet that sparks the revolution of love and peace throughout the world. Savior by way of sex.
Disturbing.

Nice observations, pharrington. This movie sounds like a trip. And this may have been mentioned, but I was just wondering if we know what this movie will be rated yet?

QUOTE(jojo @ Jul 17 2005, 09:30 PM) Nice observations, pharrington. This movie sounds like a trip. If Kelly's previous film Donnie Darko is any indication then it certainly will be. Donnie Darko is one of my favorite films if you haven't seen it go watch it IMMEDIATELY! I anxious to see if his sophomore effort will be up to par. So far the fact that SMG plays a pornstar is definately a step in the right direction!

QUOTE(pharrington @ Jul 17 2005, 02:56 PM) Okay, this is sounding like Cronenberg mixed with Orwell. Tallgent Your mention of Cronenberg is very apt. Уou mean Crash, don't you? - the adaptation of J.G. Ballard's novel, one of the milestones of counter-culture - a movement which, interestingly, often used porn (or quasi-porn) for creating surreal and\or provocative oeuvres. I wonder if Kelly plans to rethink and reimagine basics of counter-culture. Donnie Darcо shows his ability to blend genres and his rebel mentality. Stakeout, Thanks for the link! The poster looks awesome.

Yep, meant Crash which I have neither seen or read. Skimmed through it, but I was afraid to read about such disturbing subject matter. Car crash fetishists. Yipes. The only JG Ballard I really know is Empire of the Sun, one of my favorite Spielberg films. Spielberg and Cronenberg, weird combo. I actually see a lot of David Cronenberg in Richard Kelly, actually. I wuldn't be surprised if he was an influence along with Stanley Kubrick. But they have the same issues with technology merged with biology (The Fly and Dead Ringers) and the ultimate expression of such with technology and sexuality merging to the point of being unable to distinguish between the two (Videodrome, Crash, and ExistenZ). Part of me is real anxious for this and the graphic novels. And part of me has hard core heebie-jeebies about it. Creepy stuff. Gellar is very gutsy taking this on. Big time props to her. Tallgent

I like the poster. The tagline is also pretty cool. While I'm glad to see Sarah's name on a poster, why did The Rock get top billing? Is he really that big of a star?

Is The Rock necessarily getting first billing, though? Or is it more along the lines of all three stars have about equal screentime, and one of them has to be put at the top of the poster?

jojo...Have a feeling The Rock does have first billing. Back when they were trying to get another actor for his role (Benicio Del Toro) they said his character was the lead.
But who knows it could be the 3 of them share top billing
