Hmmm...boring part...i wasn't going to go downtown to see if i could catch a glimpse of sarah. i wasn't going to go inside the event either but at the last minute i asked my friend's brother if he was busy at like 5 pm, if he wouldn't mind going past the foundation to check it out and stuff...since he knew the area around houston better than i did and was probably the best person to ask. so um...we got there at 7 pm and asked if the event started but people who were outside said it didn't...so we were milling around for a while and i was trying to decide if i'd go inside or not (i didn't want to go in by myself). so my friend convinced me (took a whole lot of convincing btw...about 30 minutes worth and two of my friends on my mobile) to go in and said that he'd go in also. around 7:20 my friend said that they'd close the doors in 10 minutes..so we went to an atm...then there was about 10 more minutes of "yes i'll go inside, no i don't mind paying ____ amount 'cause it's for a good cause" blah blah blah. so we asked someone if you had to have an invite or if you could just pay at the door (the website said it...but we wanted to make sure). so we went in...etc. etc. etc. went around looking at stuff for silent auctions and they had free alcohol...lots of free alcohol...we didn't drink any...that was really really stupid but that's not the point...i kept wondering if she would be there or not because i'm a worry wart.
skip to around an hour later...where i was worrying that everyone here would be disappointed if she wasn't there...after about 20 minutes of "what if she's not here" "i don't want to disappoint anyone if she's not here which is why i didn't even mention i would be down here"...to my friend (bless him)...we went to sit down and as soon as we did, i heard someone behind us say "it's sarah michelle gellar" and i thought i was hearing things so i stood up...then heard someone else go "?" and the person repeat the name...and i looked over to where the press was and cameras were going off at high speed. so then i turned to my friend and went "i think she's here...i'm too short." so we went closer to where the press was...and i couldn't see a thing but i kept hearing "sarah!" "sarah over here!" damn shortness to hell...my friend could see her, i couldn't. so then someone moved and i saw her...and almost died. and then i froze up...and went to go stand in a corner, so my friend asked me if i had a camera, which i did (i almost forgot) and so i put the battery in and handed it to him. and he went over to where the press was and tried to get pics but people kept moving in front of it...the press was so happy...i think one guy was actually
singing. sarah's really nice to the press...she kept walking back and forth so they could take tons of pics and they got some with her and eva la rue etc. and then she stepped off to the side to do interviews for extra and channel 11 and other stations i guess. my friend walked over to that corner...cause i was still in the other corner, frozen.
he took pictures, so yes, i have pictures. then he told me to go around...and i did...but i wouldn't move, i kind of pressed myself as close to the wall as possible. and then eva la rue was standing next to me...and i didn't know what to say so my friend spoke to her and she came to take a pic with me, so i have a pic with eva...she's very very sweet. lol i said sorry, i don't know why...for taking up her time i guess lol...and she said it was okay and i totally forgot to introduce myself...so a while later i tapped her on the shoulder and introduced myself, because i'm an idiot...and my friend said something to her about me being really nervous or something. she didn't think i knew who she was and i didn't get to tell her that i did because i was just a mess, forgetting everything. anyway, sarah left the press place and went off to the side i guess
to sign up for the silent auction. she chatted to some people and my friend went over there...so i followed him, i figured she was leaving then he reminded me that she hadn't spoken...witness me going "ohhhhhh...riiiiiight". so we were really close to her then but i still wouldn't go up to her so finally she and her group went upstairs to sit down, rest, whatever. by that time my friend and i had moved to the stage because it was less crowded and i appear to have social anxiety disorder. no really, i'm serious.
i'll be paraphrasing for the most part...um...so we were standing around...and all of a sudden...sarah was right next to us and this big security dude was right behind her...so she passed by us and then stood around for a bit right next to us...she passed by us and somehow still ended up next to us

she was speaking with someone else who was presenting...really funny comedian whose name i can not remember because i'm still in shcok, and some other folks. um some guy was trying to get through to take a picture or something and the guard told him that he'd have to move back (but he didn't tell us that because we were being nice and respectful and well, i was frozen to my spot anyway

) then she went up on stage to stand around and gave an amazing speech. a lot of people at the benefit were talking...not the ones paying attention to her speech and actually turned toward the stage...just the ones who were being really rude.

but anyway, before she gave her speech...when she was being introduced, the person who was introducing her said where they had probably seen sarah (buffy and scooby doo) and said something along the lines of
"she's battled demons etc. on btvs in the past and monsters in scooby doo" and the entire time...sarah's standing there wrestling with the microphone she was supposed to be speaking through because it wasn't reaching her height..and so when the woman introing her said that line, she went
"but she does not know how to use a microphone". it was so cute.. then someone pointed out that it was literally taped (a whole damn lot of taped) to the floor.. and she was like
"oh it's attached" so then she figured out that she had to move the mic and not the entire mic stand to use the mic.

but anyway...the woman said her name and then she was like
"me, standing there made that kind of anticlimactic didn't it?"...she said something else that was really funny/cute but i can't remember what it was right now. she then went into her speech. and she said that she did battle demons on tv etc. but that it's nothing compared to what the people who "are here tonight" were supporting and what some of the people "here, tonight" have been through. and she asked young survivors of breast cancer to raise their hands and asked for a round of applause
(you know, from the people who were actually paying attention!)...and then she finished up and introduced the really funny comedian whose name i can't remember right now. and she was like
"you'll enjoy this, she's way funnier than me". and she was...but sarah was adorable lol. so the funny-comedian, kicked off the auction and made some really hilarious comments which caused the audience and sarah to laugh. and during the auction sarah kept making comments...and at one point the "funny comedian" commented on one of the get-away pachages being auctioned and was like
"oh i've been there" and sarah was like
"i stayed there too! it's amazing" and then the really "funny comedian" was like
"oh, i didn't stay there...i just was there"
which made sarah laugh, again. at another point, sarah interrupted "funny comedian" and asked the audience if they
"could quiet down. i know that some of you aren't hearing the great items we're auctioning because it's so noisy" etc...and that if they did, she and her auctioning partner would be off-stage quicker. and then "funny comedian" was like "if you shut up...we'll be off". at another point, some guy tried to buy...a date or something lmao...it was hilarious, sarah was like
"i'm sorry, i'm married" and semi-flashed her rings (may i just add, WOW). my friend was cracking up. also at another point...um...tickets for fashion week 2004 were being auctioned and sarah said that she had been to fashion week and
"for all the men who think that this is only something for the women...i went and the models wear very skimpy thongs and are practically wearing nothing on stage...so the guys can go with a date and they can get to see models on stage". anyway, so then it was time for sarah to auction off the gorgeous pearl
mikimoto necklace she was wearing (she kept doing all these poses, it was too funny. sorry though, no pics of that, my friend had my camera.

)...which was originally 11,000 dollars (

). and it had a cherry blossom and she explained what cherry blossoms meant (isn't she such a cute conscientious nerd?). someone bid 8,000 i think...and then someone else bid 9,000 and i can't remember what happened but it went for like...9,500 or something. lol sarah told the man who won it that she thought he deserved it and that he could come up and remove it from her neck. and one of the security people for the event i guess...motioned to her "no".

and she was like
"no? oh...oh.. you can pay for it and THEN you can come remove it from my neck." she made some comment about the security people motioning at her like mad that no he couldn't come take it off her neck...but i don't remember when she said it, i just remember that she said it. and at another point...bear with me, lots of points...some guy came up on stage and whispered something to sarah and she turned to "funny comedian" and said that they had one more thing to auction. so then they said what was being auctioned...(a very guy orienated package...something about a blazer and i can't remember what else) and then sarah was like
"we'll give you that if you win and the score to the yankees game!"... my friend was tempted,...lol okay not really...no. they started the bidding at like 800...and no one was bidding, so they brought the bid down...and still, no one was bidding. so then sarah raised her hand and said
"700" and funny-comedian turned to her and was like "where?" (i think) and sarah was all
"i'm bidding 700" and funny-comedian was all
"awww, that's so nice...you're nice, i have two kids an no money" and she asked for a round of applause for sarah. i think people in the audience were probably like "

" (some guy behind me was saying how great she was and saying how tiny she was)

so basically sarah started driving the price up and rather quickly, so people would bid...i think she might have been a little disappointed that so many people were there and weren't really into the auction...but hey...anyway she drove the price up (and no i'm not telling you what the final price was

) and of course she won...and then she was like
"i guess it's mine then" and
"and we have the score to the yankee game". etc. etc. and they stayed up on stage for a bit, i believe they were waiting until a human cocoon was made for sarah to walk in the middle of it.

she passed us...and was really close and my friend was going to speak to her, but then some dude jumped in front of him. i feel sorry for that person because they didn't get a great shot with her. and she moved out..and so my friend and i followed behind the huge security guard because it was the best way to get out of the crowd at the front. when you're small, follow the hugest guy...it really works. so then sarah headed upstairs.
...more later. i'm taking a break, my hands hurt. and yes, there's more.
